Hummus made with rape seed oil is preferred as it is better taste and better for you (high omega 3). I also sprinkle with fresh cilantro.

And now that various chile peppers are available (spring) I make my own zhug/harissa HOT sauce. This turns hummus into a delicacy that varies from batch to batch. I make a green chile sauce loaded with cilantro and garlic.

How can one go wrong with good fresh ingredients, enough tahina and rape seed oil + soft fresh pita and zhug?!

What country has the best paprika to go with Hummus?
Is Hungarian paprika the best?

Has anyone ever tried basil to replace the parsley? YUM.

i also make up 50/50 canola and olive oil. Canola- One of the lowest oils in saturated fats, making it a heart-friendly oil; a rich source of essential omega 3 and 6 fatty acids. For extra virgin olive oil, the amount of omega 3s per ounce is about 0.2 grams.

Also one-quarter cup of flaxseeds contains about 7 grams of omega-3 fatty acids while one-quarter cup of walnuts contains about 2.3 grams. So toss some on top of your hummus!

Beaten with hummous, Israel goes for falafel record

http://israelity.com/2010/05/23/beaten-with-hummous-israel-goes-for-falafel-record/

Weighing in at 10.9 kilograms and with a circumference of more than a meter, the falafel ball is expected to enter the Guinness Book of World Records in the coming days.

UPDATE: The new record for Hummus is held by Lebanon at 10 tonnes! The UN better step in before this gets out of hand and into mouth!

Top tip: Its so easy and just takes a few minutes so make your own hummus and stay away from store bought product!

Classic stuff! For a minute I thought that last pic had a record breaking miniature pita alongside it, but then realised it was a chickpea. Damn shame!

I believe most Lebanese are not great fans of Iran.
A miniaturized pita will be included in the next version.

Oh, thanks Marilyn. The truth is I did not put as much effort into it as I could. That's should actually be considered a prototype. I'm eager now to make smaller, more detailed version.
