The Best Hummus Video Yet
Just in case you wondered – we go over YouTube and other video sites in search for new stuff on a regular basis. Rarely do we find anything exciting that is suitable for this blog.
Elahn Zetlin‘s recent video was a pleasent surprise. Not only because it’s main theme is Abu Hassan, the hummus guru from Jaffa, but because it really captured the Jaffa’s (and Tel Aviv’s) special atmosphere. Watch this superb video, than go on reading.
The funny thing about Abu Hassan is that it isn’t really his hummus that made him so famous but rather his Msabbha (click to read more about this great dish).
His hummus is good but it’s his msabbha that is divine. This less known dish which no one is as good in making, is the real reason for most people to come all the way from wherever they live or work in order to enjoy that ruther short – though heavenly – experience. And it never takes more than 5 minutes until you’re done.
The late Abu Hassan (or actually – his wife) did not invent it, but he certainly perfected it to a degree that no one has before.
It sure is a great movie. It made me hungry!
Abu Hassan is my favorite as well, especially in the original place in the Dolphin street.
I must soon get to Israel and try out a few places to see which I prefer. But this was a great video and sparked me to thinking….Hummus Tour!!!
fun hummus video. Anybody have an opinion about Abu Gosh’s Abu Shukri, I thought they made pretty good hummus/ful although their kubba I didn’t like as much.
Hey, just saw that you linked to my video. Fantastic!
Thanks so much for enjoying it. About time I made a new one.
All the best… Elahn.
